Early Summer Plant and Mushroom Walk with Bo Brown
We're happy to announce we are having an early summer guided hike with our friend, plant and foraging educator Bo Brown at a gorgeous location! Bo, the author of Foraging the Ozarks and Foraging Central Grasslands, is an authority on the plants of our region, drawing on decades of field experience. Mike is a respected myco-educator who’s been studying and foraging mushrooms for over a decade and loves nothing more than to share what he’s learned with anyone who will listen. He’s currently working on his own Falcon Guide, Foraging Mushrooms of the Ozarks. This is an opportunity to participate in a unique and extremely informational experience and we’re proud to offer it to our communities.
We will be meeting up at the gorgeous Dockley Ranch, about an hour southeast of Springfield, MO, on Saturday, June 21st from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We’ll walk the property together while Bo identifies any plants of interest we encounter and tells us how to know them and how to use them in the kitchen. Mike will be on the lookout for early summer mushrooms and going over their identifying features, their ecological roles, and how to collaborate with them to improve your life. This is a really interesting time of year to explore the Ozarks, as we’ll likely get to see both springtime and summertime plants and mushrooms! This is a perfect chance to enjoy some time in the woods with two experienced educators who are passionate about sharing their knowledge of our plant and fungal allies.
In order to maintain a fairly intimate setting participants will be very limited, so if you want to join us don’t hesitate. Tickets are $50 per person and are NON-REFUNDABLE unless we have someone on our waiting list to replace you. This event is rain or shine, but in case of severe weather, we’ll reschedule. The exact address along with other information will be sent to registrants a week or so before the event.
