Come join us for an educational event like no other! This is your chance to get familiar with the incredible abundance of plants and fungi our region has to offer and have fun doing it!
Bo Brown is the author of TWO excellent regional foraging guides - Foraging the Ozarks and Foraging Central Grasslands - and is a renowned authority on the plants of our region, drawing on decades of field experience. Mike Snyder is a myco-educator who has spent the last few years sharing the amazing world of fungi with communities around the state and beyond. He’s the author of Foraging Mushrooms of the Ozarks, an upcoming guide to edible mushrooms of the region. This is an opportunity to participate in a unique and extremely informational experience and we’re proud to offer it to our communities.
We’ll be meeting up right here on our homestead, just south of Edgar Springs, MO, on Saturday, May 9th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. We’ll walk our property together while Bo identifies any plants of interest we encounter and tells us how to know them and how to use them in our kitchen. We’ll see many spring ephemerals along with lots of delicious springtime weeds to learn about. Mike will be on the lookout for late spring mushrooms and going over their identifying features, their ecological roles, and how to collaborate with them to improve your life. This will be a perfect chance to enjoy some time in the woods with two experienced educators who are passionate about sharing their knowledge about our plant and fungal allies.
Please note, this is an educational opportunity, NOT a foraging outing where you will be filling your basket. Like all of our offerings, we try to maintain a fairly intimate setting so the number of participants will be very limited. Tickets are for one person and are non-refundable. We will have the event rain or shine, but if severe weather is expected we’ll reschedule.
