Growing Specialty Mushrooms at Home

  • Wild Arts Learning Center Springfield, MO (map)

This event is SOLD OUT!!

Join us for an opportunity to learn how you can easily collaborate with fungi to grow your own delicious specialty and medicinal mushrooms! We will gather at Wild Arts Learning Studio in Springfield, MO, from 10:00 AM until 1:00PM on Friday, August 11.

This beginner’s class/workshop will provide detailed instructions on how to grow several species at home, mostly outdoors, using a low-tech approach.

·         Mushroom species covered will include Shiitake, Lion’s Mane, Wine Cap, and Oyster mushrooms.

·         Mike will guide us through a slideshow introducing the techniques we use and the successes we’ve had over the past few years growing mushrooms on our homestead.

·         He will also be demonstrating a few methods in-class to give you an even clearer picture of what you can do to succeed at growing mushrooms at home.

·         Each participant will assemble their very own mushroom grow kit, which will produce gourmet mushrooms in about a month!

·         Students will receive printed instructions to take home for how to take care of their kit.

We will be serving a few very special culinary delights made from the mushrooms we will be talking about! This is a great way to get some ideas about what you can do with all the mushrooms you’re going to be growing using the knowledge you gain from this class! We love sharing our mushroom creations with folks so they can see first-hand the potential gourmet mushrooms have in the kitchen. We will even sauté some fresh mushrooms so folks can see how tasty specialty mushrooms are even when prepared very simply!

We hope you can join us for this fun and informative class. Space is very limited, so if you are interested don’t hesitate to claim your spot! Follow the link to purchase.
