Beginner's Outdoor and Low-Tech Mushroom Cultivation Workshop

Sorry this event is SOLD OUT!!

Join us for this unique opportunity to learn the basics of low-tech and outdoor gourmet mushroom cultivation. This workshop is geared towards beginners but will still be a deep dive into growing your own mushrooms at home. Mike will do a talk/presentation covering the basics of growing fungi showing original photography of our processes and results. We will cover several different types of mushrooms and ways to grow them on easily obtainable substrates and each participant will assemble their own Oyster mushroom grow kit to take home. We will also be inoculating logs with shiitake mushrooms and each student will be taking home their own log. We will help you to cut the learning curve by years while gaining hands-on experience with cultivation tools and learning the ins and outs of small-scale shiitake mushroom production.

We’ve never offered this much information in one class! You will get:

·         An in-depth presentation with plenty of time for questions

·         an Oyster mushroom grow kit to take home and watch grow into delicious mushrooms

·         Hands-on experience using shiitake cultivation tools

·         a Shiitake mushroom log that will produce gourmet mushrooms for years

·         Take-home sheets containing instructions on how to take care of your grow kit and log

·         A walk with us to see what plants and mushrooms we can find and learn about

This is a perfect chance to learn a lot of valuable information about how to get healthy and delicious mushrooms into your life on a regular basis. There will likely be lots of discussion about wild mushrooms throughout the day, and we will be taking a short plant and mushroom walk after inoculating our logs, so there will be lots to learn! We hope you’re as excited as we are for this one-of-a-kind event!

We are having the class just outside of Rolla, MO on Saturday, April 1st from 1-5 PM. The location will be sent to you soon after purchasing your tickets. This workshop will be held mostly outdoors, so be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. The event will be held rain or shine, but if severe weather is predicted we will reschedule. Tickets are non-refundable!
